Song: Please bring sheet music for a 32-bar piece in the style of the show (musical theater or pop/rock with comedic flair). Songs from the show are acceptable. An accompanist will be provided. Alternatively, you may play a karaoke track on your phone as your accompaniment. Acapella auditions will not be permitted.
Reading: Cold readings from the script may also be part of the audition.

Rehearsals will begin the week of June 1, 2025.
A detailed rehearsal schedule will follow based on cast availability.

All rehearsals from Aug 3 through Aug 13 are mandatory.

When clean-cut kids fall prey to the lurid world of marijuana, hilarity ensues in this musical parody of the 1936 propaganda film. Filled with big laughs, catchy songs, and over-the-top characters, Reefer Madness is a cautionary tale for the ages.

Jimmy Harper: A clean-cut high school student who becomes the tragic hero of the story. His journey takes him from innocence to the depths of Reefer Madness. (Tenor)
Mary Lane: Jimmy’s sweet and virtuous girlfriend who finds herself entangled in the chaos of the Reefer Den. (Soprano)
The Lecturer: A stern authority figure who narrates the story with gravitas and occasional humor. (Baritone)
Jack Stone: A suave and manipulative dealer who lures innocent teens into the world of marijuana. (Baritone/Tenor)
Mae: Jack’s disillusioned girlfriend who runs the Reefer Den. A character with a mix of sass and vulnerability. (Mezzo-Soprano)
Sally: A seductive and reckless denizen of the Reefer Den. (Mezzo-Soprano)
Ralph: A manic and unpredictable addict who lives in the Reefer Den. (Tenor)
Ensemble: Various roles including high school students, parents, Reefer Den attendees, and other characters that bring the zany world of the musical to life. Roles for all voice types and character actors. (4-8 actors will be cast)

CASTING INFORMATION
Please note: due to Reefer Madness’ mature themes, including drug use, violence, and sexual violence, we are only accepting submissions from actors aged 18 and older.
We are actively seeking actors of all gender identities, ethnicities, and abilities.
Actors who identify as part of the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities are strongly encouraged to audition.
